{"id":10009,"date":"2026-03-07T22:07:33","date_gmt":"2026-03-07T22:07:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/outdoorthrill.cfd\/?p=10009"},"modified":"2026-03-07T22:07:33","modified_gmt":"2026-03-07T22:07:33","slug":"jade-jones-boxing-debut-win-for-olympic-taekwondo-champion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/outdoorthrill.cfd\/?p=10009","title":{"rendered":"Jade Jones: Boxing debut win for Olympic taekwondo champion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Double Olympic taekwondo champion Jade Jones marked her boxing debut with a second-round knockout victory against Egypt Criss in Derby.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">After two decades in taekwondo, Wales&#8217; Jones traded sports at the start of last year saying she needed a fresh challenge, setting herself a bold target of becoming a world champion in two sports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Her maiden bout came against Criss, daughter of hip-hop stars Anthony &#8216;Treach&#8217; Criss from Naughty by Nature and Sandra &#8216;Pepa&#8217; Denton from Salt-N-Pepa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Jones, who won Olympic gold in London 2012 and Rio 2016, needed only two rounds to claim victory, with three successive left hooks flooring her opponent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 32-year-old from Flint has been training with former professional boxer Stephen &#8216;Swifty&#8217; Smith at Liverpool&#8217;s iconic 4 Corners Gym.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Jones has also taken inspiration from former room-mate, unified world boxing champion Lauren Price, who played football for Wales in addition to being a kickboxer and taekwondo player, prior to her own switch to boxing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Double Olympic taekwondo champion Jade Jones marked her boxing debut with a second-round knockout victory against Egypt Criss in Derby.
