{"id":10109,"date":"2026-03-09T06:40:56","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T06:40:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/outdoorthrill.cfd\/?p=10109"},"modified":"2026-03-09T06:40:56","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T06:40:56","slug":"world-cup-2026-wales-eyes-salt-lake-city-base-if-they-reach-finals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/outdoorthrill.cfd\/?p=10109","title":{"rendered":"World Cup 2026: Wales eyes Salt Lake City base if they reach finals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">If Wales qualify for the 2026 World Cup, they are likely to be based in Salt Lake City, Utah.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Wales boss Craig Bellamy&#8217;s employers at the Football Association of Wales (FAW) are negotiating for their national team&#8217;s training base to be in the city which hosts MLS side Real Salt Lake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Anthony Pulis &#8211; son of former Stoke and West Brom boss Tony Pulis and an ex-Wales Under-21s cap &#8211; is Real Salt Lake assistant manager and has advised the FAW on options in the United States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Wales&#8217; qualifying campaign resumes on Thursday, 26 March when they host Bosnia and Herzegovina in a World Cup play-off semi-final.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">If they win that tie, Bellamy&#8217;s side will play Italy or Northern Ireland in Cardiff on Tuesday, 31 March for a place in the finals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Should they qualify they would face World Cup co-hosts Canada in Toronto on Friday, 12 June, then Switzerland in Los Angeles on Thursday, 18 June and Qatar in Seattle on Wednesday, 24 June.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Mexico and the United States are also co-hosts of the tournament.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If Wales qualify for the 2026 World Cup, they are likely to be based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
