It is rare golf and football cross over at a head coach’s news conference.<\/p>\n

But Eddie Howe is likely to face questions today about the ongoing commitment of Newcastle United’s majority owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF)<\/p>\n

This comes amid mounting speculation that the PIF is set to pull financial support for LIV Golf.<\/p>\n

It is a huge story in the world of sport, but there is a reason why Howe’s thoughts will have been dominated by the visit of former club Bournemouth on Saturday.<\/p>\n

This may be a game between two sides in the bottom half in the
\nfinal weeks of the campaign, but it feels like a significant afternoon for Newcastle, who are languishing in 14th place.<\/p>\n

Newcastle are certainly going to have to offer so much
\nmore than they did in 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace last week.<\/p>\n

If that was meant to be a response to a bruising Tyne-Wear
\nderby defeat, well, it ended up being an all too familiar story as yet more
