Fin Bean led the Yorkshire reply with an unbeaten century on day two but the hosts will need to continue eating away at Sussex’s massive 502 today. <\/p>\n
They lost just one wicket yesterday and Yorkshire batting coach John Sadler praised the current batting pair Fin Bean and Sam Whiteman.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the opposition goes and \ngets 500, you\u2019re always going out under pressure. We lost an early wicket as \nwell. So for those two to put on 170, it was brilliant,” he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re in a good position \novernight. But \nwe also know that we’re still 300 behind and there’s a lot of work to be done.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier, Sussex’s John Simpson 136 put Sussex into an excellent position. It was the wicketkeeper’s 10h century in 31 matches since signing in 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s nice to keep \ncontributing. To get 10 hundreds for Sussex in such quick time is something \nI\u2019ve been working towards,” said Simpson.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you join a club, you \nwant to have an impact on the team. So it\u2019s nice to have got another hundred in \nthis game and put us in a pretty good position. <\/p>\n
“I\u2019m just trying to do the \nbasics as well as I can – take it ball by ball and keep it really simple – and \nbe as ruthless as I can when I get in.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
