Conor Benn criticised Devin Haney’s performance after the American beat Brian Norman Jr to become a three-weight world champion in Riyadh on Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Haney scored a knockdown in round two but was unable to get the stoppage on his welterweight debut.<\/p>\n

Benn is plotting a return to welterweight and had said he was keen on fighting the winner of Norman Jr v Haney, but could be seen yawning as he watched from ringside.<\/p>\n

“There wasn’t entertainment in there and it’s the entertainment business,” Benn told DAZN. <\/p>\n

“I put on fight of the year contenders. He (Haney) puts people to sleep, and not in the ring.”<\/p>\n

The judges scored it 114-113, 117-110 and 116-111 in favour of the 27-year-old in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

Benn is planning a move back down in weight after jumping up two divisions to beat Chris Eubank Jr earlier this month.<\/p>\n

His promoter, Eddie Hearn, agreed with his assessment of Haney.<\/p>\n

“Haney is fighting scared. He doesn’t want to engage,” Hearn said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
