Christine Belisle says playing for Scotland has been her proudest honour after she retired from international rugby.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Canadian-born prop, 32, made her Scotland debut in 2019 – originally as a lock and back-rower – and was capped 42 times by her adopted country, scoring one try.<\/p>\n

Belilse was part of the Scotland squad that won WXV2 in 2023 and played in all three matches at the 2021 World Cup.<\/p>\n

After being left out of an extended training squad before the 2025 tournament, Belisle appeared to announce her international retirement on social media, but was a dramatic late call-up to start the quarter-final against England following injuries to Elliann Clarke and Lisa Cockburn.<\/p>\n

Scotland were beaten 40-8 at Ashton Gate by the eventual winners in Belisle’s final cap.<\/p>\n

“Playing for Scotland has truly been the honour of my lifetime,” Belisle said. “Though the curtain has closed on my international career, I carry all of it with me: the pride, the pain, the joy, the love.<\/p>\n

“To the fans, you guys are the best. Thanks for showing up and showing out. You have made the last six years some of the coolest of my life.<\/p>\n

“I look forward to moving into this new chapter with trust in the universe if what’s to come and a firm belief in ‘what’s for you will not pass you’.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
