Rampant Bosnia-Herzegovina put 13 goals past Liechtenstein in a remarkable World Cup qualifier in Zenica.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ranked 63rd in the world, Selver Hodzic’s side were 10-1 up at half-time and scored a further three in the second half.<\/p>\n

In total, they had 36 shots, 20 on target and also hit the woodwork three times.<\/p>\n

Inter Milan’s Marija Milinkovic got them off to a perfect start and Felicia Frick’s own goal doubled the lead after just nine minutes.<\/p>\n

The 191st-ranked visitors pulled it back to 2-1 through Lena Goppel, before Bosnia ran riot in the rest of the first half.<\/p>\n

Seven of their starting line-up got on the scoresheet, before three of the substitutes joined the fun after the break, in a game that also included three penalties.<\/p>\n

Despite the margin of victory, this result is some way off the world record, external<\/span><\/a> win for an international women’s match – that being 21-0 and achieved five times, most recently by Haiti against the British Virgin Islands in 2022.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, this game was Bosnia’s second win out of two in Group C1 for World Cup qualifying, with the winners making a play-off to reach next summer’s showpiece tournament in Brazil.<\/p>\n

They have never qualified for either a World Cup or European Championship but have catapulted themselves to the top of their group with four games to play.<\/p>\n

And it has not done their goal difference any harm either.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
