Image source, Getty ImagesMoving away from World Cup qualifying for a moment, there was big news for Welsh football this week as Cardiff’s Principality Stadium was confirmed as the venue for the opening fixture of Euro 2028.
The tournament will be co-hosted by England, Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Wales – but the task now for Craig Bellamy’s team is to ensure they are actually playing in it.
Wales’ head coach has acknowledged that the chance to play a major tournament on home soil has been in the back of his mind ever since he succeeded Rob Page.
“I want the World Cup [qualification] and I am everything for that – but [Euro 2028] is a motivation,” Bellamy said.
