Millie David: Bristol wing taking England call-up ‘one step at a time’

With wing Abbie Dow retiring following the World Cup win in September, England’s back line options have opened up in the past few months.

David finished as the joint top try-scorer in the PWR during 2024-25 with 16 and was named PWR breakthrough player of the season.

She joined Bristol in 2024 and this season has nine tries in 13 games, having started all but one game for the club so far.

However while Bristol reached the PWR final in 2024 and semi-finals last season, this has been a “frustrating” campaign, with five wins leaving them eighth in the table yet David said it has still allowed her to work on other areas of her game.

“Last year we built up a lot of momentum but it can get a little bit frustrating at times when it’s not always going to go up and up,” she said.

“But I’ve really enjoyed the experiences I’ve got and I think maybe because we haven’t been doing so well I’ve got the chance to develop other areas of my game.”

David was at Twickenham in September to watch the Red Roses lift the World Cup in the final and with this being a new cycle she hopes to make the most of the opportunity of being in the squad.

“The girls did so well in that World Cup and now it’s just an exciting time for some new players to come in and get some exposure and experience,” David said.

“I just want to learn as much as I can and take in the whole environment and hopefully I’ll get better just by being there.”
