Brighton attacking midfielder Fran Kirby speaking to TNT Sports: “It is so special. It is something that we spoke about. We knew we could come here and get a result, but to do it against a team like Arsenal, who have quality all over, is really special. I’m so proud of all of the team.
“Our fans are amazing. They follow us everywhere, up and down the country. We hear them everywhere and they make it a really special club to be a part of.
“We knew Arsenal exerted a lot of energy in their Champions League match midweek and they had a really good performance against Chelsea, so we knew they were going to make some changes which could maybe disrupt their flow a little bit, but we still had to come out and put on a performance.
“We are just happy we were able to get the job done and give the travelling fans something to sing about.”
On the playing conditions: “We spoke about it before the game because when we were out for the warm-ups we did see the pitch was a bit bobbly in patches. We knew not to take any risks or do anything silly in the opening stages, instead we wanted to try to turn Arsenal a little bit and get them running back towards their own goal.
“I think everyone managed the conditions really well, particularly with the way we usually like to play as well.”
