Scotland edge Papua New Guinea to maintain 100% run

Despite Darcey Carter’s 30 and Ellen Watson scoring 26 after losing Ailsa Lister (4), Scotland were behind the required run rate when Sarah Bryce and Megan McColl came together at 74-3 and required 45 from the final 33 deliveries.

However, Bryce struck an unbeaten 29-ball 39 and, although McColl was run out for 14 to leave the Scots needing five from four deliveries, Slater secured the victory.

Abel, whose five wickets came for the loss of only 13 runs, told Cricket Scotland: “It’s really nice to contribute to a nice win like that, but credit to the whole team, the batters did a really good job at the end.”

Scotland, the only side to have won all five of their matches in the eight-team tournament, face the Netherlands, who have won three, on Friday.
