Constantin Ursu beats Ryan Amos to win European title with ‘faultless’ display

Ursu’s fight was his first since March following surgery for a torn bicep.

The win took his record to a perfect 14 victories from 14 fights against an opponent who had lost just two fights in his career going into the bout.

“It was a faultless display, Constantin did everything correct,” added Dann.

“Coming off the back of a major surgery, a big injury, he went into the contest ahead of schedule and he performed exceptionally in my opinion.

“He won every single round, I didn’t give the guy a minute of a round, so coming from a 16 wins and two losses opponent who has earned his way towards a title shot, I think that’s an exceptional thing for Constantin to be able to do after such a huge surgery.”

He added: “It’s not just a physical injury, it’s the mental injury to it as well, being reserved, not wanting to let it go just in case it happens again, having them doubts.

“He’s thrown for 12 rounds non-stop at an incredible work and he barely got punched.

“We’ve left the ring, we’ve gone in the back room, he hasn’t got a mark on his face.”
