FT: Man City 2-0 Everton

Everton

Everton boss Brian Sorensen: “There was a key moment when we scored a goal. We were told it was one-on-one with the keeper, and the ball outside, which is not my view after watching it. That’s frustrating because it’s a key moment.

“We know here we have to get things right defensively then those two or three chances we get we need to take advantage of. Second half the game slipped away from us because we used our energies defensively and City is a good team. Goals change games in football and mentality.

“It would have given us a boost to go in level at half-time and have a different game plan. At the end of the day there’s not much we can do about it. It’s frustrating there’s no consistency.

“I think first half we defensively good and structured. I think it was more pressing actions, which I asked for in the second half. City have world-class attackers and we kept them quiet for quite some time so that was good. Team wise we were okay, but individually we can be a bit better and that’s what we need to work on.”
