Even in the crazy world of Manchester United, it has been a crazy couple of weeks.
Two weeks ago today, United were preparing to face Wolves and looking to follow up their Boxing Day victory over Newcastle.
Not only did they fail to win, Ruben Amorim switched to a back three, annoying United’s hierarchy and triggering the fiery exchange with director of football Jason Wilcox that eventually led to his dismissal.
Darren Fletcher took over for two games but United’s plan was always to have a caretaker in place to the end of the season.
Michael Carrick is that man.
