Monaco 0-0 Juventus: Both sides reach Champions League knockout play-offs

Monaco and Juventus will both feature in the Champions League knockout play-offs in February after playing out a goalless draw.

The result leaves Italy’s Juve 13th in the table on 13 points, while Monaco end the evening on 10 points in 21st – with ninth to 24th in the league phase going into the draw to earn a spot in the last 16 via the play-offs.

Luciano Spalletti’s Juve had arrived in the principality requiring a victory to give them any chance of making the top eight spots that provide an automatic place in the last 16.

However, they failed to register a single shot on target in a Champions League game for the first time since October 2020 (against Barcelona) in a largely uninspiring affair.

While hosts Monaco tried to play on the front foot, aside from a glaring miss from France midfielder Maghnes Akliouche inside the opening minute, they struggled to test visiting goalkeeper Mattia Perin.

Juventus take a seeded spot in the play-offs, while Monaco advance as unseeded qualifiers.
