“Being the best professional you can imagine he can be, so every day coming into the training ground trying to be the best prepared, try to regenerate.
“I just can give an example, I think it was two days ago, I texted him at 5 o’clock if we can have a chat tomorrow and five minutes afterwards he was standing in front of my office because he was still there. He was still trying to recover. He was still trying to prepare his body best for the weekend. I think that’s just outstanding, therefore there’s no surprise that’s where he is at the moment.
“And he’s not only playing, he’s also playing well. He had some tough moments also this season but let’s focus on the last game against [Aston] Villa, I think he was one of the best players on the pitch, and he also showed it this week that he’s still on his highest level, that he can still play at the top level.
“Therefore, he’s a great lad to work with. He’s a great personality. He’s very honest, very direct. It’s a pleasure to work with him.”
