Yesterday, Michael Carrick said he thought the incidents of ‘grappling’ had gone too far in the Premier League but said once one team gets away with it, everyone does it.
It was interesting to see Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw double up on Dan Burn just then.
Shaw was right behind Burn, trapping him in a tight space Yoro eased him into.
Shaw ended up holding Burn, which is how he got caught as the Newcastle man tries to get free.
No team is innocent of this. What the authorities can do about it isn’t clear as quite often, the attacking players initiate the contact.
