Bromley 3-1 Walsall – Ravens seal League Two title

Bromley sealed a fairytale League Two title to go with their promotion as they defeated Walsall 3-1 while rivals MK Dons could only draw at Fleetwood.

Daniel Kanu had the first real sight of goal 15 minutes into the game, the Charlton loanee just failing to turn in a cross inches out from goal.

Midway through the half Aaron Pressley headed straight into the hands of Grant Smith when unmarked in the penalty area.

Bromley took the lead eight minutes before the interval, Ben Thompson spinning outside the 18-yard box before smashing beyond Myles Roberts to send the Ravens top of the league.

The Saddlers went close to an immediate equaliser when Pressley was again denied by Smith.

The second half saw the game break into breathless action on the hour mark; first Jude Arthurs’ drive from 15 yards was tipped over the bar by Roberts and with their next attack Mitch Pinnock doubled the lead with a 22-yard effort.

Almost immediately Walsall reduced the arrears, Jid Okeke tapping home from Alex Pattison’s cutback.

However, Omar Sowunmi re-established the two-goal lead in the 67th minute, heading home at the back post from Pinnock’s corner.

Nicke Kabamba could have had a late goal to add gloss to the scoreline but it was not needed as Bromley ran down the game to seal the title amid raucous celebrations.
