Weekend red card gave Hearts ‘belief’ – Shanklandpublished at 22:28 GMT
FT: Hearts 2-0 St Mirren
Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland says winning with 10 men on Sunday game his side belief they could do it again.
“It’s a great result,” the striker tells BBC Scotland. “The circumstances go against us again with the red card. It’s not like Beni, he’s not a ferocious tackler.
“The other night, we went so long with 10 men that it gave us the belief that we could do it. We still carried a threat at the other end and it was important we did that.
“It’s everybody, not just the defence. To get results like that, everybody needs to dig in and defend as a team. Our distances had to be good, and we managed to get our goals as well.
“St Mirren would say themselves, they’re not in the best moment. It was about us trying to impose that on the game.
“Good results always bring belief for a team. We want to stay at the top and that’s where we are. We’re just enjoying it.”
